Now i know the iphone backup utility saves personal info/settings etc. But does it keep record of your current number? Im wanting to switch to a gophone plan (ive researched this, its completely possible and easy actually). However i dont want to lose my current settings.
Basically im asking if i wipe it to scratch and activate it with a different sim card would there be a conflict when using your backed up version? to be honest i have no clue whether it would mess with the phone number and try to reset it to the backed up version but fail because its a different sim card.
Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

Your number is stored on your SIM card. No iPhone backup could or would need to save that.
